In 1959, Berry Gordy Jr. collected the very best musicians from Detroit's thriving jazz and blues scene to start reducing tracks for his new record firm. Over a fourteen year period they were the heartbeat on every hit from Motown's Detroit period. By the end of their amazing run, this unheralded group of musicians had used even more number ones hits than the Coastline Boys, the Rolling Stones, Elvis and the Beatles incorporated - that makes them the best hit device in the history of popular music. They called themselves the Funk Brothers. Forty-one years after they played their initial note on a Motown record and three years because they were completely, the Funk Brothers reunited back in Detroit to play their music and inform their unforgettable tale, with the help of archival video, still photos, narrative, interviews, re-creation scenes, 20 Motown master tracks, and also twelve new live efficiencies of Motown classics with the Brothers supporting modern entertainers.
