The Long Island Serial Killer: A Mother's Hunt for Justice tells the story of Mari Gilbert's look for the fact behind what occurred to her daughter Shannan, a sometime escort that vanished after a 'day' on Long Island. After Shannan (Katharine Isabelle, Hannibal) stops working to come house, her mother Mari (Kim Delaney) understands something is terribly incorrect. Pleading to cops to take her concerns seriously, she keeps pushing the police for responses. Mari's persistence that her little girl not be overlooked ultimately leads to a horror hidden on Long Island for more than a decade-- 19 bodies of young women uncovered hidden in superficial graves along Ocean Parkway in the area of Jones Beach State Park.
