They Rode West
An army station in the western cavalry where his predecessors had been drunks and slackers has been given to Dr. Allen Seward (Robert Francis), an Army psychiatrist. It doesn't like him either, especially after he ignores restrictions and tends to sick Indians on the malaria-infested reserve. Seward is dubbed a "woodhawk," a bird that turns on its own kind, when the Comanches join the Indians to besiege the fort and the Indians leave the reserve in search of better living conditions. May Wynn (who shared a cinematic debut with Francis in "The Caine Mutiny") is a white girl reared by Indians and married to the chief's son. Donna Reed (who is the niece of the post commander) is also present. Prior to his death in a plane crash in 1955, Francis had made just two more films.
