Birds Are Singing in Kigali
During the genocide in Rwanda, which is being conducted by the majority Hutus against the Tutsis, we meet ornithologist Anna, who is on the run from the authorities. Anna is successful in rescuing the daughter of a coworker whose family has been slain, and she transports her to Poland with the help of another colleague. However, the woman returns to Rwanda in order to pay her respects at the graves of her loved ones. The director began working on the film alongside her husband, Krzysztof Krauze (My Nikifor – Crystal Globe, KVIFF2005), but after his death in2014, she was left to complete this difficult project on her own time.
