Ésimésac
Ésimésac urges Saint-Élie-de-starving Caxton's inhabitants to start a community garden. By working the land jointly, each individual will increase their yield. A new railway line will connect Saint-Élie-de-Caxton to the globe and provide wealth. Riopel, the burly blacksmith, starts building the railway track and gets the locals to invest in it rather than play in the garden. The massive undertaking of Ésimésac falters under the weight of metal. Can he actually halt progress, though?
