It Was a Faint Dream

The movie is set in Kyoto in the 13th century, when the Imperial court is under the control of the church. In this story, Shijo was sold as a slave to a powerful daima, but she didn't want to do that. She gets tired of living alone and has an affair with a State Councillor and the brother of a former Emperor. She realizes that she is just a plaything for the court, so she becomes a nun and travels around the country to help other people.
