Pocketful of Miracles
Director Frank Capra, tells damon Runyon's fairytale, funny and sweet. Boozy, a beggar with a basket of apples, brassy Apple Annie, is as much as part of downtown nyc as old Broadway itself. Bootlegger Dave the Dude is a sucker for the apples -- he believes they attract him fortune. But Dave and Lady Queenie Martin want far more than fortune when it ends up that Annie is at a jam and simply they can benefit: Annie's daughter Louise, who's lived her life at a Spanish convent, is coming into America with a Count along with his son. The son of the count wants to marry. It's around Dave and Queenie along with also their cronies that are Runyonesque to show Annie and convince the fisherman and his son they are hobnobbing with the elite of New York.
