The Catholic School
In 1975, two young ladies were cruelly tortured, raped, and murdered by three wealthy former pupils of Rome's elite all-boys Catholic high school, San Leone Magno. The episode, which became known as the Circeo massacre, stunned and fascinated the nation, revealing the violence and dark underbelly of the upper middle class at a time when the conventional structures of family and religion were perceived to be in jeopardy.
