The Taming of the Shrew

Baptista, a rich Paduan retailer, declares his fair young daughter, Bianca, will stay unwed until her older sister, Katharina, a hellish shrew, has wed.. Lucentio, a Pisan merchant's son and also a student, has fallen in love with Bianca. He presents as a tutor of poetry and music to be near Bianca and to obtain entry. Meanwhile, the Petruchio, a scoundrel from Verona, arrives in Padua, hoping to capture a wife. Another suitor of Bianca, hortensio, directs Petruchio's attention to Katharina. When Hortensio warns him concerning the scolding tongue along with fiery temper of Katharina, Petruchio is contested and resolves to capture her love. Since Katharina is pursued by him, another suitor of Bianca, Gremio and hortensio, agree to pay for Petruchio's costs.
