The Tree
You'll find nothing more unspectacular than collecting water, or is there? It's really a very simple undertaking, but here it takes almost 45 minutes, in what seems like real time: the man walks through the narrow roads, dog in tow, and stopping to get glass bottles at the doorways that are smart, before heading down into the darkened river. A trek overland, A queue and finally the bottles are filled. It sunrise. The night was quiet, save to the noise of the bottles clinking together and the thumping of the guns in the length, that should be why the man met no one, why what's as still as a painting, such as what the boy sees out of the window at the beginning, a village transitioned out of a story book. The grade of the light is a little more off-kilter, although Considering all of the extended monitoring shots, it'd be tempting to predict this actual life, all saturated yellows, reds and greens. The landscape is lit like a stage set.
