The youngsters of Ballydowse and also Carrickdowse engage in conflicts where they cut off the buttons, shoe-laces and panties. That is always to find the boys in trouble. They proceed to combat in bulk classes of dozens, throwing stones and cutting off their competitors buttons . And they proceed to combat exposed and completely naked. In one particular scene around 30 boys return from a battle to celebrate victory in a barn-house only to find some girls awaiting them in losing their privacy and they get very embarrassed
