Australian TV drama A Country Practice. James Davern of JNP Productions authored the pilot episode and placed third in a network script contest in 1979, getting a merit award. From 18 November 1981 to 22 November 1993, Seven aired 1,058 episodes. It was made in ATN-7's Sydney plant. After its long run on network seven, it was taken up by network ten with a mostly new cast from April to November 1994 for 30 episodes, but it wasn't as successful. Channel Seven filmed at Pitt Town and Channel Ten in Emerald, Victoria.
