Drop the Dead Donkey
The Dead Donkey is a situation comedy that first aired on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom between 1998 and 1990. It's put from the offices of"GlobeLink News", a literary television news business. Recorded near transmission, it made use of contemporary news events to give the programme a much greater sense of precision. Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin created it. The show had an ensemble cast, which makes stars of Stephen Tompkinson, Haydn Gwynne and Neil Pearson.
The show started with the purchase of GlobeLink by press mogul Sir Roysten Merchant to either Robert Maxwell or even Rupert Murdoch. Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin note it was blessed to their libel attorneys that both men shared the same initials. The show is chiefly centered on the on-going battle between the staff of GlobeLink, led by editor George Dent, as they make an effort to keep the company like a critical news business, also Sir Roysten's righthand individual Gus Hedges, trying to make the series more sensationalist and curb stories which may harm Sir Roysten's business empire.
The series was awarded the Top Comedy Award at the 1994 BAFTA Awards. At the Comedy Awards the series won Best New TV Comedy in 1990, Most Useful Channel 4 Comedy in 1991, and Most Useful Channel 4 Sitcom in 1994.
