Fullmetal Alchemist

Edward and Alphonse Elric are alchemist brothers. For alchemy to function, something of equal value must be sacrificed. When their mother dies, Edward performs Human Alchemy, breaching one of Alchemy's biggest taboos. He and Alphonse try nonetheless, but something goes horribly wrong. Alphonse and Edward both lose limbs. Ed saves Al by linking his spirit to armor, but he loses an arm and a leg.
