Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partridge
Alan Partridge's Knowing Me, Knowing You is a six-part BBC television series that aired in 1995, as well as a Christmas special. It's called after ABBA's song "Knowing Me, Knowing You," which served as the show's theme music. Alan Partridge, a Norwich-based broadcaster played by Steve Coogan, is inept but self-satisfied. Alan was a spin-off character from the On the Hour satirical radio show. Knowing Me, Knowing You was written by Coogan, Armando Iannucci, and Patrick Marber, with help from Doon Mackichan, Rebecca Front, and David Schneider, who played Alan's weekly visitors. The show's music and orchestration were provided by Steve Brown, who also played Glen Ponder, the house band's leader. It was a talk show parody. It had a live audience, so viewers couldn't mistake it for a real conversation program. Alan went on to star in two seasons of the sitcom I'm Alan Partridge, which chronicled his life after his marriage and television career ended.
