Lights Out
Lights Out was an American radio program, an example of a network show devoted mostly to dread and the supernatural, predating Inner Sanctum and Suspense. Versions of lightsout aired occasionally, on networks, from January 1934 to the summer of 1947 and the show eventually made the transition to television.
In a series of 4 specials, broadcast and produced, NBC Television brought Lights outside to television Back in 1946. NBC asked Cooper to publish the script to the premiere,"First Person Singular", which can be told entirely from the perspective of an hidden murderer who murdered his obnoxious wife and winds up being implemented. Variety gave this first episode a rave review ("undoubtedly one of the best dramatic shows nonetheless seen on a television screen"), however Lights outdid become a regular NBC TV series before 1949.
