Peter Kay's Britain's Got the Pop Factor... and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice
Peter Kay's Britain's Got the Pop Factor... and Possibly a New Celebrity! Jesus Christ, the Son of God 'Strictly on Ice' is a British television comedy show that was devised, written, directed, produced, and starred in by comedian Peter Kay. It aired twice on Channel 4 on October 12th, 2008, for a total of two hours and forty minutes. The show's title and overall premise are a spoof of talent-search-based reality television shows, which is appropriate given the show's subject matter. Britain's Got Talent, Pop Idol, The X Factor and celebrity versions of already-existing productions, such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Soapstar Superstar, Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing on Ice, all figure into the show's title. On the show, Britain's Got the Pop Factor is also known as the title of a fictional series, where Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Strictly on Ice is the name of another fictitious talent show, to which the winner of Britain's Got the Pop Factor is automatically entered. After the credits rolled, the musical promoted its "sequel," which will be performed the following year: Celebrity Fiddler on the Roof. It's a combination of the British reality show I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! and the musical Fiddler on the Roof in the Jungle.
