Queer as Folk
The 1999 British TV series Queer as Folk follows three gay guys in Manchester's gay area around Canal Street. Russell T. Davies wrote Queer as Folk 1 and 2. More 4 re-aired the first series from 14 to 18 October 2007 as part of Channel 4's 25th birthday celebrations. The Red Production Company made Queer as Folk on Channel 4. The title derives from a dialect idiom from Northern England, "there's nowt so queer as folk," meaning "there's nothing as bizarre as people." This is a word play on the modern English equivalent of "queer," which means homosexual. Davies originally titled the programme this, but Channel 4 officials suggested Queer as Fuck during development and pre-production. It reverted to the earlier moniker.
