Spider-Man: The New Animated Series
Spider-Man: The New Animated Series is an American animated series based on the Marvel comic book superhero character Spider-Man that aired for one season, 13 episodes, beginning on July11, 2003. It's a loose continuation of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man flick from 2002. The show was produced using computer-generated imagery rendered in cel shading and shown on MTV and YTV. Episodes aired in reruns on ABC Family as part of the Jetix television programming block eight months after the series finale. The series presented a significantly more mature portrayal of the character than is typical of any animated comic book adaptation on television. Rather than the normal cryptic disappearance, characters are obviously killed throughout the series, and several characters are strongly indicated to have had sex.
