Star Trek: The Animated Series
The events that took place in Star Trek: The Original Series from the 1960s are followed by those that take place in Star Trek: The Animated Series, which is an animated science fiction television series set in the Star Trek world. The animated series was aired under the name Star Trek, but it has been generally recognized under this longer moniker in order to distinguish it from the first Star Trek, which was a live-action series. Following the success of the original live-action Star Trek series in syndication and the demand from fans for a Star Trek revival, The Animated Series, which ran from 1973 to 1974, was the first source of new adventures for the Enterprise crew. The live-action feature film Star Trek: The Motion Picture followed in 1979. Before the "cartoon like" graphics of the Star Trek: 25th Anniversary computer game in 1992 and its sequel Star Trek: Judgment Rites in1993, which both appeared after the cast's last movie together in 1991's Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, the original cast's last episodic portrayal of the characters was in the "TAS" series. This was the case until the "cartoon like" graphics of the Star Trek: 25th Anniversary computer game. The Original Series was the first Star Trek series to take home an Emmy.
