The Untouchables
The American crime drama The Untouchables ran from 1959 to 1963 on ABC. Based on the same-named memoir by Eliot Ness and Oscar Fraley, it made up Ness's experiences as a Prohibition agent fighting crime in Chicago in the 1930s with the help of a special team of agents chosen for their courage and incorruptibility and called the Untouchables. In1987, Brian De Palma made a movie based on the book, and David Mamet wrote the script. In1993, a second, less successful TV series was made based on the book. The Untouchables was a powerful, hard-hitting crime drama that won Robert Stack an Emmy Award in 1960 for Best Actor in a Dramatic Series.
