Wild City
One of the cities that is expanding the quickest in the world is Singapore. It was once a dense tropical rainforest, but today its 665 square kilometers are covered in concrete and air conditioning. But tucked away in the middle of all that urban development is a wild side; there are locations where pangolins, crocodiles, monkeys, otters, snakes, and hornbills coexist peacefully with skyscrapers and boardwalks. This series, which is narrated by Sir David Attenborough, investigates how the natural world has developed inside the confines of a bustling metropolis. The documentary Wild City explores Singapore's hidden wildlife hotspots, from the island's often-overlooked interior to the inaccessible coastline and islands that have become unplanned sanctuaries for Singapore's natural heritage. It begins by showcasing the variety of different habitats that can be found in and around the built-up urban sprawl and then continues its journey around the island.
