Wycliffe
Wycliffe is a British television series based on Detective Superintendent Charles Wycliffe's novels by W. J. Burley. It was produced by HTV and broadcast on the ITV Network between 24 July 1994 and 5 July 1998, after a pilot episode on 7 August 1993. The show was shot in Cornwall, and the production office was in Truro. Nigel Hess composed the series' music, which won the Royal Television Society's award for best television theme. Jack Shepherd portrays Wycliffe, who is assisted by DI Doug Kersey and DI Lucy Lane. Each episode is devoted to a different murder investigation. The stories in the early series are adapted from Burley's books and are written in a classic whodunit style, with quirky characters and plot elements. Later seasons' tone becomes more naturalistic, with a greater emphasis on internal police politics.
